2/21/2023 0 Comments Apple os x server vmwareHowever there has been interest in virtualizing OS X Server since virtualization went mainstream. You're right that Apple has no interest in VDI since, in the end, they are a hardware company. The command line and file configuration are still there as well just as in other *nix lines. Personally I find the Server Administration tools excellent with no more limitations than OSS equivalents. So an announcement otherwise is significant that things are changing. They've been very firm and verbal about not supporting it in the past. VMware wouldn't be advertising support for OS X Server, even if by accident, unless they had already confirmed with Apple that the licensing will be changing. So it's not going anywhere, just changing how it's deployed. Apple is merging the server line with the client line.
